In the years that followed, the town grew and flourished, leading to its formal establishment as Madison Station in 1856. Madison’s historical prominence became even more firmly rooted during “The Affair at Madison Station in 1864 during the Civil War, and in 1869 the “Station” was later dropped in favor of simply “Madison.”
Today, Madison has grown into one of the fastest expanding cities in the Southeast, with excellent schools and a thriving economic center.
