I was born to draw; I am a bird in flight; I am a twenty-first century poet; I am a storyteller!
Like David going against Goliath, my humble art medium is my slingshot! Like August Wilson, or Phillis Wheatley, I express an African American Experience artistically.
I love The Lord with all my heart. It was He that gave me this awesome gift.
I am a portrait artist – the best there is at what I do and the medium I use. I have elevated pastel-chalk drawing to a new level; reinvented and innovated it. I use my gift to glorify God and express the beauty of the family.
As a child, I loved the smell of Ora Dell's fried-chicken, mac n'cheese, green lima beans, and banana cream pie on Sunday! I miss her so much. I love my brothers, my sisters, my whole family, and our gospel music; Kirk Franklin and Hezekiah Walker, CC, Vickie, Erica Campbell, their style and their swagger, jazz, pop, rhythm blues, Miles, the Rippingtons, Al Green, the O-Jays, Michael, and all of Motown. I'll never forget, the Thursday Martin Luther King was shot. I'll never forget Marvin Gaye's, What's Going On?, during the Vietnam war; Can you tell I'm a storyteller?
My favorite sports cities: Cleveland – LeBron, Kyrie, and The Cavs; Chicago – Michael; L.A. – Magic and Kareem; Oh the history; Playing basketball at Kerr Park off Copley road in the old neighborhood.
I started out loving to draw women, even as a child. I saw the female anatomy as incredibly beautiful and one of God's gifts to man!
I have always loved the works of illustrators, Ernie Barnes, Charles White, Norman Rockwell, Jack Richards, and sculptor, Woodrow Nash. Like them, I am an artist. But more than anything, I am a child of God, and I am a storyteller!
