Gunnar crew did a great job on our deck!  The deck looked better than we expected!  They did the work in a timely manner and everything came out great!

Absolutely beautiful job on my bathroom remodel! From initial request for a quote to job well done - on schedule & budget. Extremely satisfied customer.

I requested a custom fireplace mantel to be designed and installed in our new home. We had many companies reach out to us with their own opinions, but we ultimately chose Hanson Home Works. Not only did Gunnar listen to my ideas, but he was amazing at answering all my questions and patiently listened to my concerns. I have never worked with such an amazing and professional company in my life! The absolute pride and beauty they put into their work was above and beyond what I had ever expected! I will always chose them for any future plans, upgrades and consulting services. They are absolutely amazing!!

If you want a job done quick and dirty and cheap, then Gunnar is the guy for you. However, if you want the work to be professional (& not require loss of rework to finally get there), I’d look somewhere else!!

We went with him because his reviews looked great and he was cheap (& I didn’t want to do it myself). I’ve delayed reviewing for more than a year because I don’t like talking bad about people & I usually don’t leave reviews, but I realize those who read reviews could benefit from my sharing, so here goes.

Now it may be that he was just having a bad couple of months (yes, this turned into a long-term back and forth thing) but I’ll just tell it like it was. Two projects were bathroom window install and fan install.

Window Install Issues:
-firstly, he brought the wrong window the first day he came to work. (It was supposed to be a non-see-through window for a bathroom but he brought a regular window.) he then installed the bathroom fan (Read later in this review about the bathroom fan experience.)
-the second time he came. He brought the correct window, but forgot the screen. When we asked where the screen was, he basically asked, “oh, you want a screen? Ok. I can get that for ya.” (Even though it was supposed to come with a screen in the first place.) He came 1-2 weeks later with a screen that was the wrong size. (This happened again before he finally came with a screen that barely fit—all the time he blamed Moye’s glass rather than measuring it himself before bringing it to us.)
-caulking around the window on the interior was so messy and bad and there were lots of big gaps left between the sheet rock and the window. When I asked him to fix it, he said everything looks fine. I had to come in and show him the big gaps & he acted surprised. Then after he “fixed” it, I had to show him where there were still gaps. It never looked very good but the gaps got filled. I found out the caulking around the window was something similar to spackling so it all cracked within 6-12 months (Not silicone).

Bathroom Fan Install issues:
-The hole in our ceiling was cut too big, so there was about an inch gap to our attic on two sides of the fan & a half inch gap on a third side. I found this out because little bits of insulation were continuously falling whenever you turned it on, so I took off the cover and was looking at the insulation in my attic! I also noticed you could see his cut marks even with the cover on. He asked us to pay for the fan install, and I asked, aren’t you gonna fill the big gaps? I had to show him. His solution was to take little pieces of wood and shove them between the sheet rock and caulk the wood to the sheet rock. He never filled the half inch gap & he left a 3/8” gap on another side. And the “caulking” (the same cheap spackle stuff he used around the window) pulled away from the sheet rock over time. Just tacky.
-it was messy. By the time he was done, everything in the bathroom was covered with sheet rock dust and insulation. He brought a vacuum but it seems he hardly used it because everything was still filthy when he finished (now this is the one thing that I think I’d be ok with since I’d rather save money and clean myself, but it seemed rather unprofessional).
-next issue was the fan vent. He just ran it sloping up to a truss by our attic vent and stapled it to the truss. From what I’ve read and the professionals I’ve talked to, this was done very wrong. He should not have had it just go up. It needs to slope down at the end so moisture doesn’t accumulate and come back into the bathroom. Stapling it to the truss also is a no-no. As a result, a alot of water did accumulate and we had water come back into our bathroom (on our heads since the fan is directly above the toilet). I recently went to the attic and found this out-finding trash he left (the wrapper to the duct). The staples were already rusty. So now I’m going to re-do the venting myself.

 I called because me and my husband is wanting to build onto our existing house. I was wanting an estimate on price, time and I got told "I wont help you that I'm not going to even waist my time unless you have a plan drawn up." He was very rude and didn't give me any time to speak or ask questions. Really shocked at the horrible customer service.

Gunnar came out to our home to do repairs on our porch stairs. He was professional and worked hard. The stairs he fixed are now safe and look fantastic! The quality of his work can't be beat. Will definitely recommend him to anyone we can!

They set the days and times. Never showed up or called. 

My covered deck repair by Hanson Home Works Inc was an awesome experience. They started ahead of schedule and finished work in less time than expected. I'm happy with the outcome. Gunnar and his crew stayed with the estimate and Gunnar always answered emails, texts and phone calls through out the entire project. I highly recommend Hanson Home Works Inc.

I’ve worked with Gunnar several times, on different projects. He is absolutely the most professional journeyman I’ve ever known. His work is top notch and always clean. I feel I can completely trust him with any project.

Gunnar is a solid all around journeyman. He helped me through the hardest parts of finishing my basement and was able to add low cost upgrades that were fabulous. The second time I used his services was for sheet rock repair in a very nice residence in Huntsville. He was able to get the job done with care and professional cleanliness that surprised me. I highly recommend Gunnar.
